our home study

We had anxiously been awaiting to schedule our home study for weeks and on Tuesday I got the phone call from the social worker. Thursday morning, the two of us + our table were excited and nervous with anticipation. The night before, we cleaned up the house, purchased fresh flowers, and I made the most delicious blueberry muffins from scratch. I figured having tasty breakfast and coffee for us to enjoy could only make things better and of course score extra brownie muffin points! ha! Thanks for the recommendation Lou!

We sat down at 9 am + after 5 hours of questioning we were done. Which at that point, I gave myself a pat on the back for the decision to make breakfast, otherwise we would have all been quite “hangry.” [ han•gry (han-gree) adj | a state of anger caused by lack of food; hunger causing a negative change in emotional state] Tanner suffers from this often so I try to avoid a break down at all costs. haha.
At the end of our time with our home study writer, she explained the process and gave us an idea of what comes next. First, she has to type the lengthy report, then the report is given to the program director and then the executive director at High Sky (our agency). Both directors will review and flag anything that we need to discuss further. Once our home study writer gets it back, she will call us to discuss whatever the directors are wanting to know more about. After that, she edits the report and at the same time our license will be drawn up. After the report is complete and received the stamp of approval, our agency will call us to come out and sign our foster parent license. Once we sign our license we are official and could receive a placement the very same day or anytime after that! With all that being said, it will be roughly a month before we are licensed and able to accept placements.

So we have some time. Time to continue praying. Time for Jesus to prepare our hearts. Time for us to enjoy each other before we begin parenthood. Time for a fun trip….we are thinking NYC! So, let the planning begin! (which will be a good distraction for me ;)
